Labor Day Weekend 2010

Gary's sister, Kathy, and her husband, Steve, drove up from Florida for the weekend and we spent the day in the mountains. This picture was taken at Buck Springs Lodge where George Vanderbilt had one of his hunting lodges where he use to bring his guests. Gary's 88 year old mom even walked several hundred feet up this trail with us. It was chilly up on the parkway today!

We convinced Kathy and Steve to hike up to Devil's Courthouse. It was well worth the effort because it was a beautiful clear day.

This was Kathy's first assent up to the top.

After we left the parkway, we drove down the mountain and over to Dillsboro and ate lunch at the Jarrett House. (We had eaten breakfast at the Moose Cafe earlier that morning, so we were still pretty full but managed to enjoy the "home cooked" food.)

Later in the afternoon, we went to the NC Apple Festival in Hendersonville. We ate lots of yummy apple treats. We visited lots of booths and shops and also got to see and hear the Original Tams at the stage area. We were all worn out at the end of our long day.

There were a lot of people at the festival!
