Camping at Steele Creek Park August 2009
Gary and I took Hunter and Alyssa camping with us this past weekend to a great campground in Morganton, NC. We were amazed to find it on the Internet because it is really fun and we never even had heard about it. It is only an hour and a half from Asheville and less than 2 hours from Mooresville. We wish we had found out about it years ago so that we could have taken Amy, Chris, Will, and Autumn when they were little because they would have loved it. It has kind of a beach atmosphere but with a river instead of an ocean. The campground has a really fun waterslide. And yes, even Grandma slid down it and got totally drenched everytime. Alyssa was really brave and slid all by herself-and it's a long ride! The campground also has a good swimming hole with two diving boards. Hunter loved jumping and diving off of both of them-even the high dive! His swimming skills greatly improved over the weekend jump after jump after jump. Alyssa really enjoyed playing in the little creek that ran right by our camp spot. The campground is huge with lots of tubing spots and even a miniature golf course. We rode our bicycles all around and cooked all our meals over the open fire. Hunter and Alyssa had a great time. Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed sitting and watching all Hunter and Alyssa's energy!

Thank you mom and dad, the kids had an amazing time! They keep coming up with stories about all the fun and funny things you all did. I am so proud to have parents that can and do put the wants and needs of the grand kids first above their comforts. Thank you for being so wonderful!!! 123
