Hunter and Alyssa had spring break this week so Amy and the kids came to our house Tuesday through Friday. Hunter and Grandpa left right away for their 3-night backpacking trek to Turkey Pen. They were both so excited about their adventure. Hunter was not so happy about his heavy pack but he caried it all the way in and back out.
They took a small tent because our area had heavy rains one night (and tornadoes all around but not directly over us!) They cooked all their meals and drank water from a clean source in the woods.
They bathed in the very cold river. Grandpa had to encourage Hunter a little to dunk his head in the cold water.
They took long hikes everyday and saw beautiful sights.
They made these nifty chairs and lots of other tools that they needed.
It got down to the 40s the last night.
The girls and I had fun each afternoon going to local fun spots.
